Frank Edwin Bailey

Frank was an elder brother of George Bailey the famous footballer and the subject of an earlier post. Less is known about him but he was born in Thame 17 October 1887 where the family ran a butchers. However after leaving school in the early 1900s, while he remained in Thame, he worked in an ironmongers. When the War broke out he served as a Corporal in the London Regiment. (1/20 Lon R 6596 Cpl, 1/20 Lon R 633349.) Later he served with the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment and was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. After the War he moved to Chipping Norton and established a grocery business. He died in 1967.
